After breakfast, depart from Fes at 8:00 AM, heading towards Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco” for its alpine architecture and snowy winters. Continue to the cedar forests near Azrou, where you’ll have a chance to see Barbary macaques in their natural habitat.

Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains through Timahdite and stop in Midelt, Morocco’s apple capital, for lunch. Then descend through the scenic Ziz Valley, home to lush palm groves, fortified kasbahs, and countless date palms.

Arrive in Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and annual date festival, where you can visit a fossil workshop to see how ancient finds are crafted into beautiful artifacts. Continue to the majestic dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. A camel ride will take you to the heart of the dunes, where you’ll watch a mesmerizing sunset.

Enjoy a Moroccan dinner under the stars, followed by Berber music around the campfire. Overnight in a luxury desert tent with a private bathroom and traditional furnishings.

Early risers can climb the nearby dunes for a stunning sunrise. After breakfast, depart for Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, stopping en route to visit traditional “khettarat”—an ingenious underground irrigation system. For those curious, you’ll even be able to descend into the tunnels to understand this ancient method of desert farming.

Explore the Todra Gorge on foot, walking along the river and through orchards and gardens. If desired, you can take a guided hike through the cliffs and valleys with a local guide.

In the afternoon, travel to the Dades Valley, known for its red cliffs and unusual rock formations. Overnight at a charming guesthouse overlooking the valley.

After breakfast, take a short stroll through the fertile Dades Valley before continuing to Boutaghrar via a scenic off-road track. Meet Berber nomads living in mountain caves and enjoy tea with them, gaining insight into their traditional way of life.

Drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses, especially vibrant in May during the rose harvest and festival. Visit cooperatives producing rose-based cosmetics and local crafts.

After lunch, continue along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs to the Skoura Oasis. Visit the beautifully restored Amredhil Kasbah, a living museum that showcases Berber architecture and daily rural life. Explore the palm grove and learn about oasis agriculture.

Continue to Ouarzazate, the gateway to the desert, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional guesthouse.

Depart Ouarzazate for the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This ksar has served as a backdrop for numerous Hollywood films and was once a thriving stop on the trans-Saharan trade route.

Continue along the scenic Ounila Valley to the village of Telouet, former stronghold of the Glaoui family. Although the Kasbah of Telouet is currently closed due to damage from the 2023 earthquake, you can still explore the exterior and learn about its fascinating history from a local guide.

In the afternoon, drive through the High Atlas Mountains, passing Berber villages and river valleys. Admire the diverse mountain flora, from wildflowers and olive groves to walnut and pomegranate trees. Arrive in Marrakech by late afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable desert adventure.
